    TWO QUICK QUERIES:

    1. TOTAL SUSPENDED SOLIDS IN OIL FIELD WATERS- WILL IT INCLUDE WITH CRUDE OIL OR ONLY SUSPENDED SOLIDS WITHOUT OIL?
    2. PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION-  HOW IS IT ACCURATELY MEASURED? WHICH METHOD?

    Kuthaman:
1 - the suspended solids test is done on separated water and therefore should not include any crude oil.  (Where some oil is left suspended in the water, should any remain on the SS millipore filter paper it is usually rinsed off so that only solids are measured).

2 - Particle size distribution has traditionally been done with a Coulter-counter.  However, nowadays there are some other (and some people claim these to be better) devices such as those from Jorin and Malvern Instruments.
